Have you ever felt that, no matter how hard you try, there’s an invisible ceiling limiting your joy, prosperity, or inner peace? You work, you take care of yourself, you meditate, but still, you perceive a kind of blockage, as if the natural flow of good things in life isn’t reaching you with the force it should.
If this resonates with you, I want to share a concept that transformed my understanding of life. It’s an idea I’ve encountered in my years of studying ancient wisdom, especially Kabbalah, and one that I apply both in my life and in my coaching work. I call it “The Open Vault.”
Imagine there exists a divine energy vault, an inexhaustible source of all the good you long for. When this vault is open, an infinite current of joy, peace, clarity, abundance, and purpose flows towards you. The secret, however, is not in finding the combination to force it open, but in understanding what keeps it wide open. And the answer is as simple as it is profound: the vault opens every time you share authentically, and it begins to close when you act only for yourself.
The Secret Isn’t Asking for More, But Aligning with the Flow
To understand how this vault works, Kabbalah offers us a very clear map of creation, based on two primordial forces:
- The Light of the Creator: An infinite energy whose sole desire is to give, expand, and share without limit.
- The Vessel (us): We were created with the sole purpose of receiving that marvelous Light.
A logical question arises here: if the Light always wants to give and we were created to receive, where does the short circuit occur? The problem arose when the Vessel, in its desire to receive, wanted to do so only for itself. This act of pure ego created a disconnection, a void. It is what Kabbalists call the “bread of shame”—that uncomfortable feeling of receiving something we feel we haven’t earned, which makes us feel small and unworthy.
The solution to this separation is an elegant spiritual technology: transforming our desire to “receive for oneself” into a desire to “receive in order to share.” When we make this shift in consciousness, we align with the nature of the Light. We stop being a stagnant well and become a channel of constant flow. And it is that alignment, that affinity with the source, that opens and maintains the vault.
“Love Your Neighbor as Yourself”: The Ultimate Spiritual Technology
This famous phrase, often interpreted as a simple moral counsel, is actually one of the most powerful instructions for keeping the vault open. It is not a soft theory or an act of sacrifice. It is a spiritual technology that invites us to recognize that the other is, in essence, an extension of ourselves.
Think of it this way: if you care for your well-being, you actively seek the well-being of others. If you prioritize yourself in a healthy way, you give that same priority to your neighbor. This act does not deplete your energy or resources; on the contrary, it multiplies the good for both. You become a practitioner of what Kabbalah calls “upside-down greed”: you no longer desire to accumulate only for yourself, but you long to receive more Light and more abundance with the sole purpose of being able to share more.
5 Practical Steps to Keep Your Vault Always Open
Understanding the theory is the first step, but true transformation happens in daily practice. Here are five concrete steps, based on this ancient wisdom, for you to start living with an open vault.
1. The Conscious Pause: The Power of Restriction
Whenever you feel an intense and urgent desire (to buy something, to gain recognition, to respond with anger), do not act immediately. Take a conscious pause. This simple act, called tzimtzum in Kabbalah, creates a space between the stimulus and your reaction. In that pause, you can recognize: “This desire is energy from the Light, but my first impulse is to use it for my ego.” That pause gives you back the power of choice.
2. Intention is the Rudder: Ego or Soul?
Before acting, especially in important decisions, honestly ask yourself: “Does what I am about to do align with sharing and adding value, or is it just feeding my ego?” If the answer is pure ego, such as the need to prove you are right, wait. If you can transform that action so that it also benefits others, then proceed with all your might.
3. The Habit of Sharing: Time, Resources, and Awareness
Sharing must be a constant practice, integrated into three key areas of your life:
- Time: Dedicate a portion of your day or week to giving without expecting anything in return. This could be listening to a friend, helping a colleague, or volunteering.
- Resources: Use a part of your abundance (money, knowledge) to sow into others intelligently and consciously.
- Awareness: This is the most subtle and powerful. Treat the other person with the same real priority you give yourself in a conversation, a negotiation, or any interaction.
4. Gratitude that Fuels the Flow
Every day, take a moment to thank the Creator, the Universe, or Life for the simple opportunity to choose to share. Recognizing that you have the power of decision to open the vault not only fills you with humility but also strengthens your Vessel and keeps the flow of Light active and constant.
5. Healing “I Don’t Deserve”: Co-creation with the Light
When you share with intention, you eliminate at the root the feeling of “I don’t deserve” or the “bread of shame.” You are no longer receiving passively or “for free”; you have become an active partner, a co-creator with the Light. For this reason, you can receive more and more blessings without the vault closing, because everything you receive already has a higher purpose: to be a vehicle for sharing even more.
The 35% Rule: Bringing Theory into Practice
So that all this doesn’t remain just a beautiful philosophy, I propose a practical commitment: the 35% rule. It consists of dedicating at least one-third of your energy allocated to personal growth to a real and measurable act of sharing. For example:
- Time: Block out 2 to 3 hours weekly in your agenda to guide, serve, or help someone without expecting an immediate return.
- Attention: In your important conversations, consciously dedicate one-third of the time to actively listening, validating the other person, and offering clarity, instead of just talking about yourself.
- Resources: If you have a budget for your development, set aside one-third to “sow” into others, whether through donations, scholarships, or creating high-value content for your community.
An Important Warning: Sharing is Not Sacrificing Yourself
I want to be very clear on this point. Keeping the vault open does not mean negating yourself, pleasing everyone, or giving until you are empty. That is not sharing; it is self-destruction. Your health, your peace of mind, and your financial stability come first, because you cannot give from emptiness. True sharing is sustainable, done from abundance, and with clear and healthy boundaries.
A Daily Ritual to Seal Your Intention
To anchor this practice, I share a simple ritual that you can adapt:
In the morning: “Today I choose to share with intention and joy. I honor my boundaries and my energy. My ego weakens, my soul strengthens. I keep the vault open.”
In the evening: “Thank you for the opportunity I had to share today. I release what does not add value and receive what multiplies. I rest in peace with the vault open.”
The vault is not a physical place, but a metaphor for the infinite Light that is always available to us. When you choose to live with the vault open, your life ceases to be a struggle governed by the ego and becomes a fluid dance with the Creator’s abundance. The choice is yours, every day and every moment.
If this concept resonates with you and you want to explore how to apply these principles of purpose and abundance in your life in a deeper, more personalized way, I would love to talk with you. You can message me directly on WhatsApp, and we can explore your path together.
